WHAT IS THE MALLORY CLUB?
The Mallory Club has developed out of the original FoMBC that formed in 1997. The Friends of Magdalene Boat Club was founded with the intention of supporting the MBC and creating a wider community of boat club alumni. Twenty years on, the Friends have continued to support the club, now with a new lease of life, rebranded as the Mallory Club.
The overall aim of the Mallory Club is to promote an interconnected community
of MBC alumni who are interested in supporting MBC so that it can continue in
perpetuity. In addition to the social aspects, alumni crews will race under the
Mallory Club name and members will be entitled to wear the Club regalia and
enjoy priority booking for events such as the Mays Dinner.
We’re excited at the prospect of reconnecting with our wide alumni network and reaching back out to the alumni with whom we have lost contact.
HOW DO YOU SUPPORT THE MBC?
We aim to support the MBC both financially and otherwise. Under the guise of the FoMBC we have regularly supported the annual MBC training camp, offered guest coaches from our experienced alumni base, and joined the masses at the Mays Marquee and the subsequent Mays Dinner!
We have also financially supported new boat acquisitions (notably a reasonable contribution to the most recent 8+), purchased essential equipment items like cox boxes, and aim to continue supporting the MBC in this way.
Beyond simply the finances, we believe that a supportive and rich community will greatly benefit the club. Opportunities to meet alumni through the years have been extremely well received, and some guest coaching on the Cam can make a highly positive impact on the crews and the club.
BENEFITS OF JOINING THE MALLORY CLUB
There are many benefits of joining the Mallory Club, the main being that you will be joining an excited community of your peers and assisting your former club! However we aim to provide some other perks to show our appreciation:
- Receiving regular Mallory Club mailings & MBC updates
- Racing or rowing in alumni races with the Mallory Club
- Ability to buy kit or regalia
- Priority booking & avoiding surcharge of Mays Dinner
- Updates & invitation to Mallory Club events throughout the year

GIVE TO THE MALLORY CLUB
Through regular giving we hope to enable the MBC to reduce its reliance on alternative unreliable income streams. These plans are intended to facilitate a regular income that can support the events of the Mallory Club as well as of the MBC. The Sappho plan is intended as a minimum, suitable particularly for recent gradautes. However we believe that your giving is entirely discretionary and thank our members for their support.
